A yearly gas furnace service with SkyLimit costs $189. David, a licensed gas fitter, runs the furnace through a full start-up, cleans the burners and flame sensor, checks the filter, airflow, safety switches and venting, and leak-tests the gas connections. If he finds a fault, you get the repair price before he does anything extra.

What the $189 Covers

CheckWhat David does
Start-upWatches the full sequence: inducer, pressure switch, ignition, flame and blower
Burners and flame sensorCleans them, so the flame lights evenly and the furnace doesn’t drop out after a few seconds
IgniterChecks its condition before it fails on a cold night
Filter and airflowChecks the filter and measures airflow and temperature rise
Safety switchesTests the limit and rollout switches
Venting and drainChecks the vent connections, plus the condensate drain on high-efficiency furnaces
ElectricalChecks the connections and tightens them where needed
Gas connectionsLeak-tests them before he leaves

At the end he tells you what he found, what can wait and what needs attention now. Parts we supply carry a 1-year parts and labour guarantee.

What Costs Extra

  • Parts and repairs. If the service turns up a worn igniter, a weak flame sensor or a failing part, David quotes the repair first. Nothing extra is done without your OK.
  • Filters. Tell us your filter size when you book if you want a new one fitted.
  • A furnace that has already stopped. That’s a repair visit, not a service. See below.

Is a Yearly Service Worth It?

FortisBC recommends having gas appliances serviced every year by a licensed contractor (see its appliance maintenance guidance). Some furnace warranties also require yearly maintenance, so check your paperwork before you skip it.

A service catches the small things that usually stop a furnace in the middle of winter: a dirty flame sensor, a cracked igniter, a clogged filter or a blocked condensate drain. It can lower your gas use if the burners are dirty or airflow is restricted, but your bill also depends on the weather, insulation and thermostat settings, so we can’t promise a number.

Do You Need a Maintenance Plan?

No. We don’t sell plans. You pay $189 when you book the service, and we can remind you next year if you like. Before you sign a yearly plan with any company, compare its price with a single service visit and check what the plan actually adds.

Furnace and Fireplace on the Same Visit

If you also have a gas fireplace, ask David to service both while he’s there. One customer booked exactly that: “Contacted David for a quote for maintenance and cleaning of our furnace and gas fireplace. Very quick response for quote and booking. Rates are very reasonable.” (Emm Hua-Blake, Google review). See gas fireplace service.

When to Book

Early fall is easiest. September and October appointments are simpler to get than the first cold week of November, when every furnace that sat all summer gets switched on at once.

Questions About Furnace Service Cost

How much does a furnace service cost with SkyLimit?

$189 for the yearly gas furnace service. If David finds a fault that needs a repair, he gives you the price first, and nothing extra is done without your OK.

Is the $169 service call the same as a service?

No. The $169 service call is for a furnace that has a problem: it covers the call-out and diagnosis, with parts extra. The $189 service is yearly cleaning and testing of a furnace that still works.

How often should a gas furnace be serviced?

Once a year. FortisBC recommends yearly servicing of gas appliances by a licensed contractor, and some furnace warranties require it.

Will a service lower my gas bill?

It can, if the burners are dirty or the airflow is restricted. Your bill also depends on the weather, insulation and thermostat settings, so we can’t promise a number.

Can you service my furnace and gas fireplace on one visit?

Yes. Mention both when you book so enough time is set aside.
